The making of a legendary blend
Most of the tea is picked manually. The green tea is then bruised and cut using tobacco cutting machines. It is spread out on drying plates to dry in the sunlight. Fermentation is essential in order to enhance the flavour of the tea, and takes place within 12-24 hours.

The green shrubs turn the familiar red-brown colour and develop the tea’s characteristic aromatic flavour. The tea is then is sterilized by steam, dried in commercial dryers, sifted and packaged. The process is controlled by South African PPECB (Perishable Product Export Control Board) and European Organic regulators (Lacon and Eco-cert).

Honeybush and Rooibos teas are cultivated in the same way.

A growing market
Today Rooibos sells more than 7 000 tons pa, exported to 35 countries worldwide, including Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Japan. Organic Rooibos currently accounts for more than 25% of total sales, with sales growing beyond all expectations.

We work with the largest exporters of Rooibos, Honeybush and especially Organic teas from South Africa. Sales are limited only by production, because this is the only place in the world where Rooibos grows naturally, thriving on the areas winter rainfall and coarse sandy soil.
